Part-time clerk
This part-time position offers a 10-20 hours a week. Since Creve Coeur Public library is a smaller library so the main responsibilities circulation, i.e. charging materials and registering patrons, including other task assigned by the director as needed.
Supervision Received
Works under the administrative direction of the Director
Examples of Duties
- Maintenance of a public library collection of books, periodicals, and a variety of other library materials.
- Processing and maintaining patron records that have late material and contacting those patrons.
- Registering new patrons and renewing current patrons in the system and updating his/her information i.e. address and phone number.
- Confers with other public libraries, corporations, and community groups in the development of library programs for the Town and assists in coordinating inter-library program efforts.
- Provides reference and reader's advisory services on a regular schedule to library patrons as supervisor of that department.
- Shelving materials that are checked in
- Shelf reading the collection
- Showing patron how to use resources and retrieve items from the shelves.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public library functions.
- Thorough ability to administer the activities of a public library and to supervise the work of others.
- Thorough ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, associates, officials of other agencies, and the general public.
- Knowledge in computers and networking.
- Through idea of new ideas and concepts being used in the library world.
- Update registration card file and delete from both computers the patrons that have left the district or expired longer than three years
